This is part of the “Stardom’s Favorite Daughter—Icon or Illusion?” watch series, which you can find here.
This is a A Block match in the 2014 5Star Grand Prix, with Iwatani holding 2 points to Chisako’s 0.
This is a skippable one.
Lots of back-and-forth sequences and they go for a big finishing stretch at the end. It’s not really a match structure I find very interesting, nor is it a style where I’m able to differentiate between matches that are going for the same thing beyond gauging the crowd. Matches like these blend together, and I don’t mean that in a good way. I don’t know, Mayu’s selling when Chisako strings some stuff together at the end is borderline great, I just wasn’t given a reason to care in the first seven minutes.
Anyway, DASH wins with a frog splash, at picks up the 2 points. Coming in at under 10 minutes, it’s not quite long enough for me to be any kind of offended, and there’s no real mistakes or slip-ups if you’re crazy about the execution side of things. That’s all it really has going for it.
Rating: Meh
